25 and 26 July 2023: Summer Canoe and Camp

A fun day and night of paddling by open canoe to West Hythe Dam, camping, pizza. We will paddle from Seapoint Canoe Centre to the bridge before West Hythe Dam, where we will sleep under the stars. Each child will need to bring their own sleeping bag and roll mat, and any nibbles and drinks in a waterproof container or rucksack for the trip. A 1 hour training session prior to the trip may be required.

For paddlers aged 10-14, maximum group size 15

Cost: Members £35 | Non members £45

Time arrive at the centre Tuesday 25 July : 4-4.30pm.

Pick up from the centre: Wednesday 26 July : 10-10.30am

Fun to be had on our Summer Camp for juniors aged 8 - 13 years old. This camp is ideal for those with paddle skills, not for beginners, a training session to refresh the basic skills can be booked in for those with only a little experience.

Wednesday : 4.30pm Meet, Set off in open canoes up the canal towards West Hythe Dam, Camp out with pizza supper.

Thursday : Early breakfast, return to Seapoint Canoe Centre. 10.30am: Return to Seapoint Canoe Centre

Cost: £35 for members, £45 for non-members. Price includes: food, a pizza supper and bacon sandwiches for breakfast.

We will paddle from SCC to the bridge before West Hythe Dam (that’s about 10 bridges we paddle under). We will sleep in West Hythe under the stars and we paddle in open canoes for the older children, bellboat for the younger ones.

What to bring:

Rucksack for overnight kit and a dry bag for the canoe for water etc

Personal snacks and drinks for the whole time.

Sleeping bag and roll mat

Change of clothes to sleep in if you get a little wet on the journey, washbag, small towel.

Sunhat and sun protection cream, insect repellant

Strap for anyone wearing glasses

SCC will provide:

Pizzas and a cold drink.

Bacon or egg sandwich for breakfast.

All the paddling equipment

Bivvies to sleep in or under

Water

Hot drinks

  • Paddling will be in open canoes along The Royal Military Canal located between Seabrook. and West Hythe

  • Arrive by 4.15pm to get kitted out (we provide all the equipment)

  • We provide qualified coaches.
