PADDLESPORTS FOR SCHOOLS

Seapoint Canoe Centre is located in Hythe, on the bank of the Royal Military Canal, As an official Delivery Partner for British Canoeing we offer a range of paddlesports ideal for schools wanting to give young people the opportunity to try kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding. The programme can be tailor-made to suit your school.

Spending the morning or afternoon on the water can be a memorable and exciting experience. In addition to teaching core skills and water safety we make sure the sessions are fun and engaging and include plenty of games in our sessions.

Being on the canal is a positive environment for learning, balance, communication and water skills,

OUR PADDLECRAFT ACTIVITIES

bellboating

The Bell Boat is a totally unique design in watercraft, its purpose is to remove the fear of taking part and to help with team work and co-operation. The versality of the Bell Boat holds no bounds, it is a long lasting robust platform for introducing all ages to water sports as well as a classroom on the water. Seapoint Canoe Centre has 2 bell boats, each take 10 children. We also have an annual bellboat tournament for Primary Schools.

12th July 2023 : Annual Primary School Bellboat Tournament - FULLY BOOKED

Paddleboarding

Stand up paddleboarding is the fastest growing paddle sport. Stand up paddle boarders progress from kneeling to standing on boards that float on the water. paddlers use a single paddle to move through the water. It requires patience, balance and core body strength. The sheltered canal is an ideal location to practise. Once the group is confident, the instructor will take the group down the canal to put to good use the new skills. Our Mega-Stand up paddleboard is especially popular as it holds up to 10 children at a time and is a fun way to work as a team and steer the craft together. The Mega-SUP is often included in multi-activity sessions. Suitable for ages 8+

KayakiNG

Kayaks are a single person paddlecraft, the difference between kayaks and canoes is the seated position of the paddler and the number of blades on the paddle. A kayak has a double bladed paddle. Our experienced instructors will teach a range of paddle strokes, enabling paddlers to move forward and back. We have both sit on top (SOT) kayaks and sit-in kayaks.

OPEN CANOEING

Open Canoes are pointed at both ends and open on top, paddlers are either seated or kneeling and facing the direction of travel, they navigate and paddle using a single-bladed paddle. Typically three to a boat suitable for ages 8+
